Transportation & Stay
Important Transportation Information
When it comes to getting around Ireland, we highly recommend getting a rental car. Especially if you plan on making the trip a vacation and want to go sightseeing (which we also definitely recommend if you have the time). Just remember that you will need to drive on the opposite side of the road.
Around Dublin and Galway, taxis and Ubers are available but Monaghan county is very rural and most likely won’t have many drivers. There are buses that shuttle from the airport in Dublin to Monaghan, then to Clones but this is something that would need to be booked and/or planned for ahead of time with the bus schedule. It is also possible to take a taxi/Uber from the airport to Monaghan County but they may be pricey and some drivers might decline due to the distance. I wouldn’t count on an Uber to take you back to the airport, so taking the bus might be a good backup plan to have either way.
We are going to book a shuttle/taxi service to take guests to their hotels after the wedding depending on where they decide to stay. Rental cars can be left at the venue as long as everyone is out by 2:00am and the cars are picked up before 12:00pm on Sunday. Accommodations that are further from the venue might need a separate taxi that we will need to schedule ahead of time, so please let us know where you choose to stay ASAP if you need a ride home.
Accommodation
Clones is the closest town to the venue and has a hotel and a few bed and breakfasts located there. There are also hotels/B&Bs located in Monaghan which is about a 30 minute drive from Hilton Park. Booking an Airbnb is also a great option if you have any trouble finding hotels with availability.
